C’down sun safety rewarded
STUDENTS at Camperdown College’s secondary campus will be able to apply sunscreen easier when UV levels climb thanks to a new automatic sunscreen dispensing kiosk.

STUDENTS at Camperdown College’s secondary campus will be able to apply sunscreen easier when UV levels climb thanks to a new automatic sunscreen dispensing kiosk.
The kiosk will dispense a measured amount of sunscreen for each student and was donated to the school by Cancer Council.
Camperdown College was chosen as a case study to showcase its strong sun protection policies and practices, with education and involvement of students part of the plans.
Students Sadie Walsh, Rebecca Johnson, Finn Tolland and Stella Horspole were interviewed as part of the study, with assistant principal Vicki Angus also part of the video.
The video was posted onto the Cancer Council website.
Ms Angus said students only have to put their hand in the gap of the dispenser, and it will give a measured amount for students to apply as they head outside.
“It’s just new,” she said.
“We haven’t used it yet, but when the UV levels rise again, I’m sure it will be very well received and encourage another level of protection.”
