PROUD Alvis 12/50 owners took a cruise into Camperdown recently as part of their scenic drive to mark 100 years since the first Alvis 12/50 was built.
The group travelled along the Great Ocean Road and the Otways, passing through Aireys Inlet, Apollo Bay, Port Campbell and Timboon before taking a trip to Mt Leura on Monday.
They planned to spend the night in Colac.
Alvis 12/50 owner Peter Miller said the Camperdown area was a lovely part of the world.
“We’ve come down through the Great Ocean Road and the Otways, and we think the Camperdown area is great for touring,” he said.
“I think when the manufacturers made them they never realised that, 100 years on, we’d still be using these cars the way they were intended.
“It’s just wonderful that a car made in 1923 is still able to cruise down the freeway at 100 kilometres an hour.”
