Boyle, a lower order batsman for the Dragons, made a quick-firing 101 from 81 balls in an innings that included seven boundaries and four sixes.

The Dragons’ captain led his side to a creditable 9/221 against the third-placed Heytesbury Princetown.

After winning the toss and electing to bat on their home ground, the Dragons struggled early in the day, with openers Joseph Heffernan (bowled for two) and William Owen (caught and bowled on seven) quickly dismissed.

Regan Nelson (35) and William Rowbottom (23) both contributed to the board.

The Dragons were struggling at 5-57 when Boyle took to the crease and immediately made an impact, sending the visitors in all directions in the outfield.

Heytesbury Princetown vice-captain Chris Vogels was best of the bowlers for his side, taking 2/31 from 10 overs.

In reply the Storm reached 7/222 in the 47th over thanks to the efforts of Travis Brown (67), Ash Hunt (50), Chris Vogels (27 not out), Thomas Hunt and Jake Robbins (both on 17).

This weekend’s first round of South West Cricket finals will see the Storm take on Woorndoo at Camperdown Lakes on Saturday, and Bookaar face Camperdown at Cobden Recreation Reserve.

On Sunday, Cobden Knights and Pomborneit each await the winners of Saturday’s elimination.

And in the Grenville Cricket Association, Lismore Oddfellows Cricket Club will take on Carranballac in this Saturday’s grand final.

The match will be played at Smythesdale Recreation Reserve from 12noon.
