BOORCAN teen Alester Alcantra looks set for a big future on the soccer field.
The talented 17-year-old was recently invited to train with Melbourne City FC and, after a successful session, has been invited back for more.
According to Corangamite Lions Football Club president Jamie Norton, Alester shows great potential on the field.
“Alester played in our under 17s this year and has been with the club for about five years or so,” he said.
“He’s a mid-fielder with plenty of pace and plenty of ability. While our side didn’t have a lot of success this season, Alester was a great contributor week in, week out.
“He was spotted by talented scout at an under 18s competition in Melbourne a few months back and got a call-up earlier this month to train with Melbourne City and meet some of the coaches which was very exciting for him.”
After a successful inaugural session, Alester has been invited back in the hope of earning selection in City’s under 18 squad.
“Our club is extremely proud of him and we wish him all the very best. It’s great to see some of the younger generations getting an opportunity elsewhere.”
