WET and windy conditions greeted cyclists last weekend for the 18th running of the Saul Pasque memorial race.

The strength and determination of scratch rider, Oliver Clark, saw him pass the field much earlier than usual – winning in a time of 10.10.

Finn Baxter continued his ripper season, finishing in second place, with Quinn Clark third.

Results from the event were as follows:

Oliver Clark (fastest time) 10.10, Finn Baxter 11.03, Quinn Clark 11.58, Zane Vogels 11.54, Josh Thompson 13.12, Lawson Clark 15.16, Liam Taylor 17.20, Mason Narik 13.43, Freddie Kelson 1344,

Lewis West 15.47, Ava Cunningham 12.52 and Zack Regan 13.16.

Many thanks to the Pasque family and all sponsors for their continued support of junior cyclists.

For anyone wanting to give road race cycling a go, all that is needed is a Cycling Australia licence and a rear light on your bike.

Entry is just $3 per junior rider which becomes prize money, distributed at the end of the season.

Some small race bikes are available for loan to get riders started; some begin on their own mountain bikes and are given an easier handicap.

Senior riders are often on course to encourage juniors and offer tips to help juniors ride safely.

The junior events are open to riders aged 7-16 years.
