Charity swim surpasses $20,000
CAMPERDOWN’S Luke O’Neil has smashed the $20,000 barrier in his fundraising efforts for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

CAMPERDOWN’S Luke O’Neil has smashed the $20,000 barrier in his fundraising efforts for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
As Western District Newspapers reported last Friday, O’Neil has been following the black line up and down the bottom of the Camperdown pool in recent weeks to raise as much funds as he can. He was thrilled this week to learn his efforts have, to date, raised $20,490.
“I’m absolutely stoked with how much has been raised and can’t thank the community enough for getting behind this ‘Super Swim’ project,” O’Neil said.
The charity event encourages participants to swim 20 kilometres in the month of February and by this weekend O’Neil will have just 1.2 kilometres to go – a distance he will complete on Sunday through a “virtual Lorne Pier to Pub.”
“I’ll finish the 20k’s alongside a group of swimmers and a couple of mates on Sunday but the fundraiser will be open until February 28,” he said.
“I was originally aiming for $1000 so to surpass the $20,000 mark is amazing.”
