Christmas spirit
COBDEN residents and businesses are being encouraged to participate in an exciting and festive project that is in the making.

COBDEN residents and businesses are being encouraged to participate in an exciting and festive project that is in the making.
Local residents are invited to help create an even greater Christmas spirit in the township by purchasing a rustic tree, built out of wooden pallets, courtesy of the Cobden Men’s Shed.
Two tree sizes are available, one metre for $20 or a table top 2ft tree only $10.
Proceeds of the sale of the trees will go back to the Cobden Men’s Shed.
The project organising team including Kathryn Stubbings from Heytesbury House, Corangamite Shire councillor Jo Beard and the Phoenix Project’s Chelsea Hatherall have a vision for Cobden to have a ‘forest of Christmas trees’ all around.
This would be to complement the existing fabulous show of Christmas lights and become bigger yearafter year.
Organisers are encouraging locals to get creative and decorate their tree however they would like, whether it be with classic decorations, adding Christmas lights, getting crafty, or simply painting.
This will be a fun project with endless ideas and is something that everyone of any age can be involved in.
“It would be fantastic to see as many trees as possible located in people’s front yards, front windows, shopfronts or even on display in homes,” Mrs Stubbings said.
“The purpose is to help create greater festivity and another point of difference for Cobden.”
The group thanked Kooler Dairy, Heytesbury House and HereSkip for their generous donation of pallets to construct the trees so far.
If anyone has any more pallets they would like to donate it would be appreciated.
For Christmas tree orders or to donate pallets please contact Kathryn Stubbings on 5595 1800.
Trees will also be available for purchase at the Christmas in Curdie Street event on Saturday, December 3.
