Clarke wins at Camperdown golf

LUKE Clarke was the winner of the Holcim Australia June monthly medal at the Camperdown Golf Club.

LUKE Clarke was the winner of the Holcim Australia June monthly medal at the Camperdown Golf Club.

Clarke won both the monthly medal and the privilege pot with scores of 77-7-70.

A grade was won by Col Keane, 87–13–74 from runner-up Steve Douglas87–12–75.

B grade winner was Ray Jackson on 94–22–72 from Tony Cronin 93– 17–76.

Nearest the pins: 2nd Peter Hughes,

7th (second shot) Ray Jackson, 9th Steve Douglas, 15th Peter Hughes and 17th Peter Gubbins.

The best nine out went to Luke Clarke on 21 stableford points while the bestnine in was Tony Cronin on 19.

Balls down the line - Bernie Sinnott 77, Peter Gubbins 77, Norm Tonks 79 and Tom Moran 79.

In the putting competition, a good effort from Col Keane resulted in 29 putts.

The longest putt on the 18th was won by Gary Thomson (about 2.5 metres).

The Camperdown club was well represented at Chalambar Golf Club, Ararat with three teams competing in the prestigious Forbes Cup last Friday.

It was the 61st time this event has been held and Camperdown teams have had wins as recently as 2017 and 2019.

This year it was the Camperdown 3 team which claimed the prize with an aggregate net score of 295, six points ahead of runners-up Chalambar 2 on 301.

Team captain Donna Conheady scored 86 (17) 69, Tracey Baker had 98 (20) 78, Gabby Gill had 97 (26) 71 and Leah Cheeseman had 107 (30) 77.

Donna also won the A grade handicap with her net 69.

Deb Narik won C grade scratch with 97 (29) 68 and Gabby Gill was runner-up with 97 (26) 71.

Chris Farmer won the C grade handicap with 108 (34) 74.
