Around 30 students enjoyed an evening of glitz and glamour as part of the traditional evening, but the celebration didn’t stop them from enjoying a learning experience along the way.

Mortlake College education support officer Melissa Fowler said some students had used the preparation to complement their VCAL studies.

“It’s nice to be able to do something for the kids – they deserve it,” she said.

“It’s good to see them let loose after a big year.

“The kids all helped and were really involved, our focus has been wanting this to be about the kids rather than about us.

“So, they did pretty much most of it, with lots of input as to colours and themes.”

The theme students chose this year was ‘classy country’ which perfectly complimented the outdoor setting.

In 2021 the presentation ball was held outdoors for the first time in school history as a safety measure in the first ball back from COVID-19 restrictions.

The move proved popular with students who enjoyed the atmosphere as warner summer evenings arrive, so the decision was made to again hold the event outdoors.

“We want them to have a great night and enjoy themselves,” Ms Fowler said.
