Close finals for Tigers

THE finals campaign for two of Simpson’s senior netball sides came to an end last weekend.
The Tigers’ A and B grade sides were defeated in their respective semi-finals last Sunday, while the club’s D grade side earned itself a spot in this Saturday’s preliminary final.
Senior coach Paige Salmon said while her team was disappointed not to have come away with a win, they were thrilled with the game they played and the season they had.
“Yes we were obviously disappointed to be beaten but every player gave 110 per cent and you can’t do more than that,” Salmon said.
The Tigers were defeated 38-36 by Irrewarra Beeac after a close four-quarters.
“To have finished fourth on the ladder this season was a credit to the girls and I’m really proud of how the team went this year,” Salmon said.
“As for next season, I think we’ll all just have a break for a few weeks and then reassess.”
Best for the Tigers in the A grade game were Hayley Coulson and Kelly Thompson.
B grade took on South Colac for its semi-final match but was defeated 24-35.
Best for the Tigers were Chloe Woods, Casey Tesselaar and Rachel Mason.
D grade also had a close battle on the court but finished two goals ahead on the final siren, 33-31.
Best for the Tigers were Leesa Seabrook, Megan Burbidge and Kellie Meade.
The team will face South Colac in this Saturday’s preliminary final at Central Reserve.
