ATTENDING a Cobden Country Womens Association (CWA) meeting has led to a new partnership for the Cobden Technical School.
School numeracy co-ordinator Andrea Stoddart said Cobden CWA invited the Cobden Technical School SRC to its monthly meeting at the Uniting Church hall recently.
“The students learnt about the history of the CWA and the many wonderful fundraisers and donations within the local community, Melbourne and in overseas deprived countries,” she siad.
“The CWA then discussed possible joint fundraising events with the SRC.
“It was agreed the CWA would make homemade soup for the students and they could fundraise to purchase some items for the school.”
Mrs Stoddard said the Cobden CWA has donated enough homemade soup to feed the entire school community on two occasions.
“We are so grateful to Val Maynard for co-ordinating this wonderful program requiring a great deal of time and effort behind the scenes,” she said.
Principal Rohan Keert embraced the opportunity to serve soup on the first occasion, and on the second occasion, the SRC worked as a team serving the homemade soup.
