The Cobden Probus Club March meeting welcomed 40 members with seven apologies for our annual general meeting.

Our new president for 2023 /2024 is Kevin Duffin, secretary Sue Gass, treasurer Jan Fraser, welfare Joy Hill, catering Glenice Roberts and Deliah Robertson, attendance Helen Watts and Beryl Callaway and trips Evelyn Grayland.

A letter of report from past president Pam Savage (who was unable to attend ) was read out by Kevin.

Pam thanked everybody for all the help and the many wonderful times shared with you all on the outings and events throughout her year as president.

Pam wished our new president and his team all the best 2023/24.

Our guest speaker for March was Eric Read - a ventriloquist.

Eric bought his first and very expensive hand puppet doll called Derek - where he used at mainly his friends parties - it wasn’t long before he was performing at different shows and venues all over Queensland.

Eric joined the entertainment industry of music and ventriloquism where he met Darren Carr who Eric describes him as the best Ventriloquist in Australia - and the person who helped him with his passion.

Eric and his wife Jacinta and his suitcase of little people relocated back to Victoria for family reasons, where they have been entertaining many people at different venues including Cobden Probus Club, where a very funny Irishman/ Irishdoll Shamus O’ Sparkie kept us entertained with many jokes and even a couple of songs.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed Shamus.

A small gift of appreciation was presented to Eric and a huge thank you for putting a smile on all our faces.

Our lucky entrance winner was John VanLeerdam.

Our next meeting is April 13 - where all memberships are due - at the Heytesbury Room- Cobden Civic Hall 10am.
