Cobden set to deck the halls
COBDEN is preparing to start the Christmas celebrations this weekend.

COBDEN is preparing to start the Christmas celebrations this weekend.
Christmas in Curdie Street is happening this Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
A free, all ages mini street event with a Christmas market, shopping specials, competitions and giveaways, barbecue, live music and fun activities for the whole family.
“Children will love the face painting, elf on the shelf scavenger hunt and badge making,” Cobden business and economic development consultant Laura Hultgren said.
“Kids, we need your help! Those pesky elves have been getting up to no good again this Christmas.
“We need you to go on the hunt in Cobden to find out what the elf on the shelf has been getting up to in each participating business.
“You will be rewarded with a sweet little surprise from Cobden Sewing Machines and Lolly Shop for your efforts.”
Locals and visitors alike will be able to browse the Christmas market and shops for clothes, homewares, gifts, toys, tools, experiences and more.
Ms Hultgren said there are some great local businesses and organisations from the region taking part in the day.
She said attendees will be able to let their artistic side run wild and contribute to the giant community painting or write their thoughts on the gratitude board.
Ms Hultgren and the Cobden Business Network are organising Cobden’s Christmas in Curdie Street which is part of a mini festival series supported by the Corangamite Shire Council.
This project also received grant funding from the Australian Government in partnership with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal and the South West Community Foundation.
