THE bigger bodies of ladder leaders Koroit proved too strong for the Bombers last weekend.

Bombers coach Dan Casey said while his side did well in the wet, tough conditions on Saturday, Koroit’s “bigger bodies” were simply too strong all over the ground.

“Full credit to our boys, they went in hard and gave their all but Koroit is a quality side and we were just too small,” Casey said.

“We had more inside 50s, which was a positive, but we just couldn’t convert when we had our opportunities and that’s something we have to work on.”

Casey made special mention of the efforts of midfielders Liam Lembey and Charlie Darcy who provided “plenty or run” along with Grady Rooke who was “reliable all day.”

The Bombers will head to Reid Oval this weekend to take on the Blues in what will be a must-win game for the Bombers.

The Bombers currently sit in sixth place, two games behind the fifth placed Warrnambool.

“We’re looking forward to this weekend and know we have to win to finish in the top five,” Casey said.

“Reid Oval suits us; it’s a big, wide open ground and it seems to handle the wet weather well which, looking at this week’s forecast, will be a good thing.”

After Warrnambool this weekend, the Bombers’ run home will see them face Hamilton (7th) and North Warrnambool (3rd) before a final round clash with Terang Mortlake at home.

Final scores last Saturday were Cobden 1.5.11 to Koroit 10.11.71.

Best for the Bombers were Charlie Darcy, Liam Lembey, Grady Rooke, Louis Cahill, Sam Thow and Joe Hutt.

Jack Hutt was the side’s only goal kicker.

In the reserves, the Bombers also went down to Koroit, 3.8.26 to 9.11.65.

Best for the Bombers were Matthew Rhode, James McLeod, Luke Pekin, Brady Green, Jack McGlade and Mitch Reed.

Goal kickers were Brady Green, Nick Kemp and James McLeod.
