POMBORNEIT Gold under 13 girls put in a brave performance in their grand final against the undefeated Colac team.

Fresh off a hard fought four run win over Pomborneit Maroon in the semi-final, Gold batted first and posted a very competitive 4/97 from its 20 overs.

Charlotte Richardson top scored with 20 from her 14 balls, Elle Mahony made 11, Ella Riches made nine while Zoe Roberts and Isla Spokes made eight each.

The Gold girls bowled and fielded well throughout but Colac proved too strong, making 4/120 to claim the premiership.

Charlotte Richardson rounded out a great game with 2/9 from three overs and was very unlucky to miss out on the player of the match medal.

Regan Norman, with 1/11 from three overs, was Pomborneit Gold's other wicket taker.

Pomborneit Gold coach Matthew Richardson said the game was played in “great spirits.”

“I was thrilled with the girls’ attitude and application throughout the season,” Richardson said.

“It was particularly pleasing that the two Pomborneit teams, selected as evenly as possible, finished second and third in the competition; it’s a positive sign for the club's junior girls’ program.”
