THERE was a lot to celebrate at Camperdown College last week with three separate events including Year 6 graduation dinner and ceremony, Senior Campus Presentation Award assembly and the Junior Campus Celebration of Learning assembly.
Acting Principal Vicki Angus said all three events were joyous occasions shared with students, their families and the wider Camperdown College community.
“It has been wonderful to have completed the year without the interruptions we became so accustomed to in the last few years due to covid and we are thrilled to have been able to again offer so many learning experiences for our students,” she said.
The week of events began with Year 6 graduation dinner and ceremony last Monday night in the AG Daws Hall.
“The underlining message from Year 6 teachers Lewis Oborne and Ashlee Carrigan-Walsh for the Year 6 cohort during their graduation ceremony was pride for the entire cohort and acknowledgement of a very successful primary schooling journey,” Ms Angus said.
“Our Year 6 students are certainly looking forward to a warm summer break and the excitement of beginning their new chapter on the senior campus in 2023.”
Second on the calendar was the Senior Campus Presentation Award assembly on Tuesday morning.
“Awards ranged from academic excellence right through to sporting, design and technology, Bronze Duke of Edinburgh, leadership and community awards and also VET and VCAL achievements,” Ms Angus said.
“The assembly highlighted that 2022 was an opportunity to engage in and celebrate the diverse programs on offer throughout the college.”
A highlight of the Senior Campus Presenta-tion Award assembly was presenting the VCE Year 12 Dux Phoebe Irish, outstanding VCAL awards for excellence and work endeavour awarded to Ruby Walsh and Isaac Baulch and formally welcoming the incoming college captains for 2023, Ruby Walsh and Selvia Suson.
“It was wonderful to have the whole senior campus and extended Camperdown College community together including families and local businesses who are tremendous supporters of our students,” Ms Angus said.
The final event during the busy week was the junior campus Celebration of Learning assembly which recognised the great efforts students had gone to throughout the year.
There was a strong message to students to be proud of having achieved their personal best in many schooling areas.
“The Celebration of Learning assembly included Student of the Term awards for all year levels, attendance and school pride awards, and highlighted that 2022 was really busy, exciting and successful in many memorable ways,” Ms Angus said.
“It was particularly pleasing to acknowledge the learning explored in every classroom with student representatives sharing a special learning pursuit this term.
“Camperdown College would like to thank their loyal supporters and the community for contributing to another successful year of education and wonderful experiences for their students and wish everyone a safe and happy year in 2023.”
