College raises funds for end of term
CAMPERDOWN College students at the two campuses marked the end of Term Three with a Sporting Colours Day, managing to raise funds for two important causes.
The day was held last Friday, with a variety of sporting themed activities for students to take part in.
The Junior School Council sold Zooper Doopers at the junior campus, which raised $310.50 for the R U OK? Foundation.
The foundation encourages people to reach out and have conversations during difficult times to help improve mental health.
The Student Representative Council at the secondary campus held a barbecue and sold cupcakes at lunchtime, which raised over $450 for youth cancer support charity Canteen.
Principal Xavier Davis said the Sporting Colours Day allowed students to celebrate their love of sport and team spirit to end Term Three.
“Students and staff dressed in their favourite sporting colours, the atmosphere was electric and filled with excitement and everyone demonstrated support for their favourite team, whatever the sport,” he said.
“The highlight of the day was the annual Year 6 vs Staff/Parents football match which saw the staff/parent team play competitively and come away with the win – surprise, surprise.
“The highlight at the Senior Campus was the Year 12 vs Staff netball match.
“The game was fierce yet fun and the tactics were entertaining, yet all above board – the staff were victorious.
“Thanks to Landon for coaching our staff, Ms Angus for umpiring and to Riley and Ms Crowle who were best on court.”
