Colour, clippers and a cause
A WEERITE resident has expressed her gratitude to all those who have supported her fundraising event last Saturday, with the total having passed $3000.

Trish Holley hosted a World’s Greatest Shave event in her garden, with 18 residents taking advantage of the sunshine to enjoy a mix of live country music.
Performing artists included Weerite’s Ian ‘Bidge’ Boy, Natalie Atkinson and Peter McGennisken, who were met with a crowd chorus of this year’s theme of ‘bloody beautiful’ after each song.
Attendees also had the opportunity to get colourful themselves, with a stall for hair colour operating throughout the day.
Ms Holley said the support for the event was “awesome”.
“I know weekends are precious and time is precious, so I’m very grateful for those who came,” she said.
The main event saw members of Ms Holley’s family and the Weerite Warriors fundraising team given the honour of trimming off her ponytails to donate to Sustainable Salons.
Sustainable Salons turns hair too short to make wigs into booms to soak up oil from oil spills in the ocean.
Attendees were also treated to an afternoon tea and conversations in between sets from the performing artists.
Ms Holley extended her gratitude to all those who worked behind the scenes to help bring the day together, as well as all who have contributed to the fundraiser.
“I would love to thank everyone who has supported me in any way,” she said.
“I’m indebted to them for their time, their energy – everything they’ve done.
“From thinking I might be able to raise $560 to a bloody beautiful $3307 – a bloody beautiful thank you to all.
“From Team Weerite Warriors, Barb and Bidge Boyd, Grant Atkinson, Natalie Atkinson and grandchildren, Jude Baker for her skills with the shaver, all who donated raffle prizes and afternoon tea, and attended the day – for all the generous donations direct to me or online, you have been awesome.
“Online donations are still coming in but the total to date has blown me away.”
