Colourful trots meet

THERE was plenty of colour at the Terang Trots earlier this week, with some unique horses taking to the track.

While most race meetings attract horses that are mostly black, brown, chestnut and sometimes grey, Monday night’s meet saw some very ‘uniquely coloured’ horses on the program.

Matt Craven had debutant ‘White Lion’ who is a cream-coloured standardbred, one of very few of that colour in the world of harness racing.

Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on his side in race six but racegoers look forward to seeing what he can do at his next start.

Not to be outdone on the night, race two winner ‘Shikoba’ is a Kewbald mare, also not common in the standard bred world (both were bred by Tourello Standardbreds in Tasmania).

‘Browniesatmidnight’ and ‘Keayang Taco’ both enjoyed the quick back-up from the previous meeting at Terang six days prior, with both winning in similar fashion to their last starts.

Kerryn Manning and Michael Bellman took out driving honours with a driving double each.

Manning scored on ‘Shikoba’ in race two and ‘Efficiently’ in race three (which she also trained), while Bellman won race seven on ‘She Will Wantano’ and race eight on ‘Micton Mouse.’
