Community celebrates milestone
SATURDAY was a momentous day for the Cobden and District Community Bank and Camperdown Community Bank.
Community members were invited to help celebrate a special milestone, with the bank reaching $1 million in donations to the wider community.
Branch board chair Pat Robertson said it was the “perfect day”.
“I think there was about 300-350 people that turned up on the day which was good,” she said.
“The two wildlife demonstrations were fantastic; there was lots of little kids there.
“Overall it was a really excellent day and a good opportunity for the community to get together.”
Mrs Robertson said a cheque was presented to the Camperdown Girl Guides on the day, which was the final donation in reaching the $1 million mark.
She said the bank had supported about 150 community groups over the years.
Mrs Robertson thanked all those who have helped contribute to the success of the bank over the years.
“If we don’t get support from the community, we can’t give away money,” she said.
“We really appreciate the support of the community over the years.
“Without a dedicated board – since 2006 – we wouldn’t be operational.
“We’re really appreciative of the work of the board and staff.”
