Corangamite extends award nominations
CORANGAMITE Shire residents now have extra time to nominate their inspirational community members for the 2025 Australia Day awards.
Nominations for the shire’s Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the year and Community Event of the Year awards will now close on Wednesday, November 6.
Corangamite Shire Council chief executive officer David Rae encouraged community members to nominate fellow shire residents and groups to say thank you for their contributions during the past year or over a longer period.
“We are very fortunate to have many passionate, community-minded people in Corangamite,” he said.
“They give their time to improve lives in their local and wider communities.
“These awards are an opportunity to formally acknowledge their contribution to making our shire a great place to live.”
The awards will be presented as part of the shire’s Australia Day activities in Camperdown on Sunday, January 26 in 2025.
Olympic medallist and multiple world champion shooter Penny Smith will be the guest speaker at the Theatre Royal event.
There will also be a barbecue and local entertainment.
Nomination forms and guidelines are available at corangamite.vic.gov.au/AustraliaDayAwards, from the Civic Centre, or by calling council on 5593 7100.
