THERE was plenty of action on the hockey field for round six of Corangamite's under 16 winter competition.

Craters played Mariners in the first game on Monday.

In a display of Craters' continued improvement, there was tight defending and many attempts at goal throughout the match.

With much excitement from the sidelines, Isla slotted a goal in the final quarter.

The final score was Craters 1 to Mariners 3.

The coach awarded best player to Jonah who played a strong game in the mid-field.

Lakers then faced Technique who scored three quick goals in the first quarter to take the lead.

From there Lakers improved their defence, only allowing Technique two more goals for the rest of the game.

The opposition coach noted how well Lakers defended and final score was Lakers 0 to Technique 5.

Best player was Quinn for his efforts as goalie.

Best players (voted by a club committee member): Craters - Jonah, Brady and Charlotte; Lakers – Lucas, Quinn and Akeisha.

In the under 12 Saturday competition, Comets and Volcanoes joined to play hockey 11s.

They won 1-0 and really worked on staying in positions and short corners.

All the under 12 players have shown great improvement this season.
