Country fair boasts success
DENIM, cowboy hats and boots, and country flair was the talk of the town last Friday, with Camperdown College hosting a Country Harvest Fair at the senior campus.
Wet and chilly weather changed the original venue from the grounds of the Brooke Street junior campus to the AG Daws Hall on the Wilson Street senior campus, however the weather didn’t dampen spirits.
A variety of stalls were on offer for students, families and the wider community, including popcorn, fairy floss, baked treats and other sweets.
Parents and Friends Association president Sheree Horspole said she and her hardworking team of volunteers were extremely encouraged by the support shown by our local community.
“Our last fair was held in 2020 just prior to COVID-19, so it was important for us, as a school, to be able hold a community event where all can come together to enjoy themselves,” she said.
“Any funds raised will be a bonus for our school across both the junior and senior campuses.”
Highlights for attendees included a bucking bull, an animal petting zoo, show bags and a large jumping castle.
Hundreds of people flooded through the doors throughout the afternoon, with many children taking home prizes from sideshows such as coin toss and bowling.
Camperdown College principal Xavier Davis said he was extremely appreciative of the efforts of the Camperdown College Parents and Friends volunteers in preparing, catering and running such a successful community event.
“We are extremely proud and grateful for the outstanding event our parent volunteers organised on Friday night,” he said.
“The Country Harvest Fair was extremely successful in bringing both our school and local community together to enjoy the traditions that come with a school fair and we know that it has created many memories for our students, families and the local community.”
