SOUTH Purrumbete’s Gordon and Dorothy Robertson marked a special milestone last week.

The pair, who were married at the Methodist Church in Ballarat in 1963, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 6.

Dorothy and Gordon celebrated with family and friends at the Cobden Golf Club.

The pair met when Dorothy was visiting her uncles property, and the rest as they say, was history.

The pair welcomed their first son in 1965, second in 1967, adopted their daughter in 1972 before welcoming another son in 1973.

“In the first few year we were sharefarming locally then in 1968 we were allocated a Heytesbury farm in Crescent Road Simpson,” Dorothy said.

“We were there for 39 years when we retired and moved to South Purrumbete where we are now.”

When asked what the secret to a long and happy marriage was Dorothy said “be honest with one another is the start”.

“We’ve always been fairly close and stayed close together,” Gordon said.
