Noorat Cub Scouts made the trip east of Melbourne to enjoy a five-day camping adventure packed with confidence-building, skills-developing activities as part of the 11th Victorian Cuboree 2023.
Cuboree, the Cub equivalent of Jamboree for Scouts, is among the biggest Cub Scout events in the world which attracted around 5000 Cub Scouts, Scout leaders and parent helpers to Gilwell Park.
Noorat Cub Scout William Rowe, 10, said he enjoyed the experience of gathering with so many other cubs from across Victoria.
“It’s a state camp where there was 3500 other cubs,” he said.
“We did a lot of activities.
“There was a mud-run, axe throw, archery, neon adventure, scouts and beyond (learning more about the world of scouting), and a jungle adventure.
“There was a big magic show which was really cool.”
The theme for Cuboree 2023 was Open for Adventure, encouraging a sense of independence and willingness to enjoy all the adventures life has.
The camping adventure is jam-packed with a range of fun and games, but also places an emphasis on education and social connection to support the kids in their development.
Noorat Cub Scout Elouise Meeuwissen, 8, said she enjoyed getting to see some of Australia’s rarest animals during an off-site adventure.
“We went to the Healesville Sanctuary,” she said.
“My favourite thing was the mud run.”
