TIMBOON’S senior footballers notched up their second win of the season last weekend.
The Demons thrilled their home crowd on Saturday, defeating seventh-placed Dennington by 23 points.
A strong opening round, backed up in the third quarter, enabled the Demons to finish on top of the visitors at the final siren.
The first quarter saw the Demons kick 3.1.19 to Dennington’s 2.2.14, however, an improved second term saw the visitors go into the half-time break with a handy seven-point lead.
The third quarter saw the Demons make better use of the ball and move quickly into the forward 50, adding five majors to the board to finish the term with a 10-point lead.
The final term was all the Demons, adding another 3.2 while keeping the visitors to just one major.
Final scores were Timboon 12.6.78 to Dennington 8.7.55.
Best for the Demons were Charlie Trotter, Ned Deppeler, Mitchell Wallace, Ben Harding, Ash Hunt and Oliver Stansfield.
Harding and Marcus Hickey both finished the day with three goals apiece, while Ned Deppeler added two and singles from Simon Harkness, Ash Hunt, Thomas Hunt and Mitchell Wallace.
In the reserves match, Timboon enjoyed a five-point win, 6.9.45 to 6.4.40.
Best for the Demons were Christopher Moutray, Richard Couch, Eoghan Cronin, Ben Bacon and Darcy Tribe.
Jeffrey Rosolin kicked three for the home side while Ben Bacon added two and Richard Couch one.
In the under 18s, Timboon defeated Dennington 8.9.57 to 5.3.33.
Bailey Delaney, Taj Field, Troy Groves, Samuel Stewart, Jasper Makin and Jack Matthews were named best while Leroy Steere kicked three, Bailey Delaney 2 and singles from Jack Banks, Taj Field and Taj Quarrell.
Netball results were as follows:
A grade – Timboon defeated Dennington 49-43.
A reserve – Timboon defeated Dennington 46-41.
B grade – Timboon lost to Dennington 33-45.
17 and under – Timboon lost to Dennington 30-38.
15 and under – Timboon lost to Dennington 17-18.
13 and under –Timboon lost to Dennington 6-39.
This weekend the Demons will head to Nirranda for round 11.
