Round 12 proved a rewarding one for the club, with senior coach Marcus Hickey singing the praises of his side for continuing their solid performance against Old Collegians the week prior, into last Saturday’s game.

“We’ve really had three solid weeks since the bye and I’m really happy with how we’re travelling,” Hickey said.

“We had both Martin Angus and Mitch Gristede out on the weekend so Jack Matthews came in and played his senior debut.

“Jack was really handy in the ruck which gave me the opportunity to move forward. I was really impressed with Jack’s game.”

Despite sitting eighth on the Warrnambool District league ladder, just percentage separates Dennington (fifth), Panmure, Kolora Noorat and the Demons all with four wins each.

The Demons will face the second-placed Nirranda this weekend in a game that Hickey believes will be a good test for the side.

“This weekend will be a good test for us and will show us where we’re at. We’re up for the challenge,” he said.

Final scores last weekend were Timboon 8.11.59 to Panmure 4.5.29.

Best for the side were Ben Newey, Rhys Ziegelaar, Jack Matthews, Oliver Stansfield, Ash Hunt and Mitchell Wallace.

Marcus Hickey, Mitch Wallace and Eben White kicked two each while Troy Groves and Rhys Ziegelaar contributed one apiece.

Timboon’s reserves also celebrated a win, defeating Panmure by 17 points in a low-scoring game, 4.9.33 to 2.4.16.

Bayley Kelly was named best for the Demons (and kicked two goals), while Robert Matthews, Steven Crees, Luke Gledhill, Zeth Kerr and Trevor Casey were also among the best.

Timboon’s A grade netballers defeated Panmure 58-49, while A reserve lost 33-35 and B grade won 45-7.

Round 13 this weekend will see Timboon host Nirranda.
