TIMBOON’S senior footballers fell an agonising one point short of their second victory of the season last weekend.

The Demons travelled to Walter Oval last Saturday to take on South Rovers and after a slow start, which saw them down by 17 points after the first quarter, the visitors put in a big second quarter to go into the main break just one goal down.

By three-quarter time the Demons had taken back some control of the game, making better use of their opportunities and displaying some strong passages of play, and went into the final term just one point behind the home side.

After an even final term, where both sides added 3.2 to the board, the Demons ran out of time to clench victory.

Final scores were South Rovers 12.14.86 to Timboon 13.7.85.

Best players for the Demons were Ash Hunt, Luke Smith, Mitchell Wallace, Isaac Bedggood, Ned Deppeler and Thomas Hunt.

Hunt contributed four goals to the board while Marcus Hickey and Eben White added two each, with singles to Ned Deppeler, Thomas Hunt, Sam Negrello, Oliver Stansfield and Mitchell Wallace.

The Demons’ reserves found round eight a tough one against South, going down by 101 points; 17.9.111 to 1.4.10.

Richard Couch was the only goal kicker for the visitors while listed among the best were Cody Merrett, Zeth Kerr, Eddie Gaut, Jeremy Doolan, Christopher Moutray and Jack Gaut.

In the under 18s, the Demons dominated the scoreboard, defeating South Rovers 6.3.39 to 2.6.18.

Taj Field, Jack Matthews, Daniel Ryan, Max Rantall, Paddy Conheady and Samuel Stewart were named best while Leroy Steere kicked two goals and was well-supported by Jack Banks, Taj Field,

Jack Matthews and Warren Te Nana-Rodgers with one goal apiece.

Timboon’s netballers enjoyed a mixed bag of results on the courts, winning three of the six games played.

A grade – Timboon defeated South Rovers 50-34.

A reserve – Timboon lost to South Rovers 37-38.

B grade – Timboon defeated South Rovers 29-20.

17 and under – Timboon defeated South Rovers 29-26.

15 and under – South Rovers defeated Timboon 22-4.

13 and under – Timboon lost to South Rovers 8-14.
