Demons held scoreless
TIMBOON Demons were held scoreless in their battle against the third-placed Russells Creek last weekend.
Mack Oval proved a tough hunting ground for the Demons, who went down by 165 points on Saturday, 24.21.165 to 0.0.0.
Best players for the side were Anthony Glennen, Ash Hunt, Darcy Bridgewater, Richie Moorhouse, Lachlan Rosolin and Lyndon Alsop.
The Demons will be hoping to end their season on a high this weekend when they host bottom-side South Rovers for the final round of the Warrnambool District League’s home and away season.
The reserve side also had a tough battle last weekend, going down to Russells Creek by 88 points, 0.5.5 to 13.15.93.
Bailey Delaney, Zeth Kerr, Drew Kordupel, Sullivan Wallace, Paul Burvill and Toby Hendrix were named in the best.
Timboon’s under 18s are holding fifth spot on the league ladder and a game clear of Kolora Noorat despite last weekend’s 60-point loss.
Final scores were Russells Creek 11.9.75 to Timboon 2.3.15.
Finn Castledine and Hugh Smith kicked a goal each for the Demons while Smith was named in the best alongside Kerr, Caius Cuthell, Lachlan McLennan, Joshua McKenzie and Thomas Ryan.
The Demons had a great day on the netball courts, winning all but one of the six games played.
A grade – Timboon defeated Russells Creek 59-42.
A reserve –Timboon defeated Russells Creek 34-33.
B grade- Russells Creek defeated Timboon 40-29.
17 and under –Timboon defeated Russells Creek 36-29.
15 and under – Timboon defeated Russells Creek 30-21.
13 and under – Timboon defeated Russells Creek 37-24.
The finals series is looking good for the Demons’ netballers.
A grade currently sits sixth on the ladder but just percentage behind Dennington in fifth.
B grade is fifth, a game clear of Old Collegians in sixth.
The 17 and unders are fourth, half a game ahead of Old Collegians but two games clear of Russells Creek in sixth.
The 15 and under side is fourth, two games clear of Panmure, while the 13 and unders are top of their ladder, percentage ahead of Allansford in second.
