The Magpies sit on top undefeated in season 2024 but were rattled when they took on the Demons last Saturday.

After a relatively even opening quarter, which saw Bolac sneak out to a seven-point lead, the Demons rallied in the second, piling on four goals to two to take a handy nine-point lead going into the main break.

The Magpies stepped up their pressure in the third quarter and moved the ball well into their forward line, capitalising on opportunities in front of goal to add three goals to the scoreboard while containing the homeside to one major.

A big final term saw the Demons come within just four points, going down 13.6.84 to 12.16.88.

Lachie Constable had a huge impact on the scoreboard, booting 10 majors for the day, while team-mates Jack Atkins, Jack McCallum and Jack Pitts contributed one each.

Along with Constable, best players included Henry Walsh, Will Langley, Bailey Austin, Hayden Brett and Josh Sanders.

The Demons’ reserves are also set for a finals campaign, sitting fourth on the ladder just percentage above Wickliffe Lake Bolac in fifth.

The Magpies were able to take the four points when they kicked a goal just before the siren last Saturday, winning 8.8.56 to 7.8.50.

Jack Sanders (2), Kelvin Scott (2), Ryan Jeffrey and Tom Parker were goal scorers for the Demons while Beau Ketchen, Jack Sanders, Jason Germon, Timothy Turner, Matthew Bacon and Thomas Burchell were named in the best.
