TIMBOON’S senior footballers are still on the hunt for their first win.

After 12 rounds, the Demons remain winless on the bottom of the ladder but coach Marcus Hickey believes a win may not be far off.

“It has certainly been a tough year for us if you look at the scoreboard but we’re just focusing on developing our young guys,” Hickey said.

“We’ve got six under 18s who are playing senior footy this year and that is great for them and great for the club."

“They’re getting a regular taste of senior footy and if we can retain them and can get a pre-season into them then that’s six senior players for next year already.”

The next two rounds will see the Demons at home to Dennington and Old Collegians – two clubs who are also sitting towards the bottom of the ladder.

“If we snag a win from either or both of them that would be great,” Hickey said.

“We’re playing good footy but we probably just haven’t had the depth to finish off games.”

The run home will be a tough one for the Demons who will face several of the top sides.

“If we get caught up looking at the scoreboard against those tougher sides it will certainly be a long day out. We just need to focus on our own game and look at what improvements we can and are making,” Hickey said.

The Demons’ reserves are currently sitting in ninth position with three wins.

They will be looking to improve on that this Saturday when they meet bottom-placed Dennington who are yet to get a win on the board.
