TIMBOON continued its difficult start to the season with home losses to Panmure in both the football and netball on Saturday.

The Demons lost by 104 points to a dominant away side who never let up the pressure.

Panmure got off to a fast start, kicking 4.4 in the first quarter to lead by 20 points at quarter time and following up with five goals to none in the second to go into half-time up 35 to 11.

The Demons continued fighting through the third period, having their best quarter of scoring with 2.3, but Panmure did not let up, kicking 10.10 in the second half to win 19.19 (133) to Timboon’s 3.11 (29).

Ben Bacon, Marcus Hickey and Ash Hunt all kicked singles for the Demons, with Cameron Mitchell being named best on ground by his coach.

The loss sees Timboon winless after six matches and languishing in last spot on the ladder, a series of big losses resulting in a percentage of just 19.34.

The pressure won’t ease this week either, with the Demons away to face unbeaten league leader Nirranda on Saturday.

Nirranda defeated South Rovers by 160 points last week and have been in frightening form all season.

In other games around the league, Dennington defeated Old Collegians, Russells Creek won at home against Kolora-Noorat, and Allansford lost at Merrivale.

Meanwhile, the Timboon netballers had a loss to Panmure, going down 37-47.

The Demons have been competitive all season, but have suffered a number of narrow losses and a draw, leaving them seventh on the ladder with just one win.

Timboon’s efforts are reflected in their percentage, which is fourth best in the league, demonstrating the tight nature of most of their defeats, and could hold them in good stead if the wins start to materialise.

This week’s opponents Nirranda have been just as dominant as their footballing counterparts, unbeaten with a percentage of 336.3, defeating South Rovers 71-38 last weekend.

In other results, Dennington beat Old Collegians 42-32, Russells Creek defeated Kolora-Noorat, and Merrivale triumphed over Allansford 43-26.
