Dirty act angers committee
A PILE of rubbish illegally dumped on the Camperdown-Timboon Road at Elingamite has angered the hardworking volunteers which manage the rail trail.
The pile of rubbish which includes children’s toys, gardening equipment and buckets was believed to have been dumped at the Wheatons Road intersection of the rail trail some time over the weekend.
Rail trail committee chairman Pat Robertson said the unwanted discovery had left her “quite cross”.
“It is really disappointing that people consider the rail trail just a rubbish dump,” she said.
“We are all volunteers and we’ve been particularly busy over the last month trying to keep the trail clear with all the damage being done by the winds and we don’t mind that; but we do object to having to clear this.
“It’s going to cost us in time and financially to take it to the tip.
“That money would be much better spent on improvement to the rail trail.”
