Do you need help from a JP?
COBDEN and district residents can now access a new justice of peace (JP) service from within the Cobden Visitor Information Center.
Community help: Justice of the peace Gerard Gleeson is setting up a base at the Cobden Visitor Information Centre for residents to access JP services each Tuesday.
Gerard Gleeson was appointed as a JP in July 2023 and has been offering JP services in the area since.
Locals will be able to drop into the visitor centre each Tuesday between 10am and 1pm if they need support.
“I’ve been a bail justice for 10 odd years and this (becoming a JP) was a progression of that,” Mr Gleeson said.
“It’s good to separate the roles.
“It’s just something I’m doing to help the community.”
Residents can attend the Cobden Visitor Information Centre in Curdie Street each Tuesday, or alternatively can contact Mr Gleeson on 0427 096 493 to make an appointment.
“This is something I’m doing to make it a public service,” Mr Gleeson said.
“I enjoy helping people.”
