Donation appreciated: Cobden Combined Churches Crib Association original members Gwen Steele and Doreen Sullivan present a cheque to Father Matthew Jones.

COBDEN’S Combined Churches Crib Association has donated $200 to Anglicare.

Association members Doreen Sullivan, Gwen Steele and Juli Dwyer presented the cheque to Parish of Camperdown and Holy Apostles Father Matthew Jones last week.

Mrs Dwyer said the group was pleased to be able to make the donation.

“It’s money that we raised from the original ladies in the association,” she said.

“We thought each year we would donate a couple of hundred dollars to a different organisation.”

Father Jones thanked the association for the contribution.
“Anglicare does a lot of social outreach, particularly with people struggling,” he said.

“With the rising interest rates and COVID, more and more people are seeking support.

“We are very appreciative.

“Anglicare is one of those organisations that are present, but they are not flashing lights, they just work alongside quietly.”

The Combined Churches Crib Association has set up the nativity scene in the window at the front of the Cobden Kindergarten ahead of Christmas, which has been a longheld tradition in the town.

Mrs Dwyer thanked the Cobden Kindergarten for storing the nativity scene pieces throughout the year.
