Dr Griffiths calls time on clinic
AFTER more than 38 years helping the community, Dr Andrew Griffiths will officially hang up his stethoscope for good.

AFTER more than 38 years helping the community, Dr Andrew Griffiths will officially hang up his stethoscope for good.
The Clinic on Curdie Street practice will close its doors on December 22 with all patients being asked to touch base by then to get their records transferred elsewhere.
The conclusion of his long career is a bittersweet moment for Dr Griffiths.
“I’m a little apprehensive,” he said.
“You spend years building the practice and then all of a sudden it stops.
“But I’m looking forward to having more time for gardening, woodwork and my family.
“It’s just more time to do the things I really want to do.”
Spending 38 years practicing in medicine, Dr Griffiths has seen generations of patients come and go over the years.
He said he originally came to Cobden on a three month stint which turned into just shy of four decades.
“You really feel a part of everything here,” Dr Griffiths said.
“I didn’t think that towns this small existed before I came to Cobden.
“It was a little bit daunting at first, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else now.
“The patients have all been wonderful people and I really enjoyed the job for that reason.”
Throughout much of the time, receptionist Wilma White has been a large part of the clinic.
Dr Griffiths thanked her for ongoing support.
“Wilma and I have had a working relationship for 35 years,” he said.
“I’ve always thought the success of the practice was how she treats the patients. They always look forward to seeing her.
“That’s going to be something that’s really missed in the community.”
Dr Griffiths also thanked wife Wendy for her ongoing support over the years.
Clinic on Curdie Street will be open for appointments on Thursday, December 22 in the morning only, with patients able to drop-in during the afternoon to say their farewells.
