CAMPERDOWN’S open netballers finished with a drawn game against the Hamilton Kangaroos last weekend.

After a 17-all first quarter, Camperdown went into the half-time break with a one goal lead before being down by two goals at three-quarter time.

The Magpies managed to turn it around in the final term, adding 17 goals while restricting the Kangaroos to 15.

The 61-61 scoreline reflected the intensity and evenness of the game.

Senior coach Leah Sinnott said her side put in a solid four-quarter effort for what was a very even, well-contested game.

“It was a very physical game but a clean one,” Sinnott said.

“I was really happy with how we played, especially the juniors who stepped up and held their own against some strong, physical opposition."

“Our goalies, Mary and Krystal, were brilliant and worked very hard in the goal circle all day. It was nice to see the side put together four good quarters.”

Mary Place, Chloe Davis and Krystal Baker were named best on court for the Magpies.

In other matches, Camperdown’s division one side went down 15-51 with Emily Helmore and Chloe Davis named best on court.

Division two had a hard-fought game but was defeated 30-45; Carolyn Fitzgerald, Jessica Van den Eynde and Emma Giblett were best for the Magpies.

And in division three, Camperdown was defeated 9-37. Best on court were Rachael Giblett, Melanie Van den Eynde and Grace Nicholas.

The 17 and under side enjoyed a strong 48-36 goal victory (Mary Place, Sophie Conheady and Ruby Conheady best for the Pies) while the 15 and unders were defeated 22-20.

Camperdown’s 13 and under team lost to Hamilton 22-42 with Piper Stephens named best on court.

Camperdown will take on North Warrnambool at Leura Oval tomorrow (Saturday) for the final home and away round.
