Drivers reminded to take care on roads
A SECTION of the Cobden-Port Campbell Road just outside of Cobden has seen multiple accidents this month.
Police were called to a vehicle losing control on the section on road known to locals as Savages Corner last Wednesday.
Cobden Police Senior Constable Ash Pitt said the incident occurred at about 8.30am.
“It was a single vehicle accident,” he said.
“Police investigations believe it was due to driver error.
“The driver was conveyed to Warrnambool hospital and released later that day.”
Snr Const Pitt reminded all drivers to take care on the roads.
“Drivers need to slow down and drive to conditions,” he said.
“Speed and fatigue can be contributing factors to road trauma.”
A similar accident occurred on August 9 and a cement truck lost control on the section of road earlier this year.
Department of Transport and Planning executive director Barwon South West and Grampians Michael Bailey said safety was a priority for the department.
“Keeping people safe on our roads across the region is our number on priority and we’ll continue to monitor our network to see where further safety improvements are necessary,” he said.
“We’re exploring repair works along this section of Cobden-Port Campbell Road and will keep the community informed as we progress.”
