Family fun at show
WOOD chopping, rides and sideshows along with a host of animal shows will make their return this Saturday at the South West Conveyancing Camperdown Show.

WOOD chopping, rides and sideshows along with a host of animal shows will make their return this Saturday at the South West ConveyancingCamperdown Show.
This year’s show is also a special milestone – the 150th running of the annual show.
The Camperdown Show Committee is looking forward to the event, with show president Ashlea Church saying plans for the event were all coming together with a wide range of things to do and see at this year’s show.
“Everything is looking great,” she said.
“We have a lot of trade sites – more than 80 so far.”
The show is playing host to the Jersey State Show which will see an influx of people from across the state.
Plenty of the old show favourites will make a return including the Show Personality competition, dog jumps, SES car demonstrations as well as live music from Devil Women from Mars, Lakes and Craters Band and Ian ‘Bidge’ Boyd.
Youngsters will be well catered for with the kids treasure hunt showbag, pet parade and sideshow alley.
Mrs Church said the dachshund dash and dog jump had been popular via social media.
“We have the Beaut Ute competition which has a fair amount of cash and prizes on offer,” she said.
“We’re bringing back a few old competitions like a fleece judging competition which is exciting.
“The homecraft pavilion has been revamped where there’s less competitions and more exhibits.
“There will be demonstrations throughout the day.
“There’s everything you can think ofon offer.”
Mrs Church said the committee is looking forward to marking the 150th running ofthe show.
“We hope that people can come along and help celebrate,” she said.
“We’re looking forward to it – we’re excited.
“We’re having an opening of the show to celebrate 150 years. We’re going to celebrate with a life member, current member and next generation representative.”
This year will see a change to the horse show schedule, with all show horse events held on the Sunday.
“Saturday will be the Stockmens Challenge and show jumping,” Mrs Church said.
Entry on the day is $30 for a family ticket, $15 per adult, pensioners and students (aged five to 17) $5 each and children four and under are free.
A pre-paid family membership is $25.
