Finals end for Bloods
TERANG Mortlake’s finals series came to an end last weekend.
Coming off a nail-biting two point win over Warrnambool in the previous week’s semi-final, the Bloods senior footballers found South Warrnambool too strong on Saturday.
The preliminary final, held at Port Fairy’s Gardens Oval, provided plenty of action with both sides eager to win their way through to this Saturday’s grand final against North Warrnambool.
A first quarter surge from the Roosters saw them take a nine-point lead going into the second, which was brought back to seven going into the main break.
Despite strong defensive pressure over the ball, the Bloods were unable to contain the Roosters in the second half – piling on an additional 6.8 while restricting the Bloods to just 1.3 for the half.
Final scores were South Warrnambool 10.15.75 to Terang Mortlake 5.5.35.
Best for the Bloods were Nicholas Shipley, Samuel Crawley, Xavier Moloney, Scott Carlin, Samual McLean and Lewis Taylor.
The Bloods’ 15 and under reserves worked hard during their preliminary final on Saturday but were defeated by Koroit, 14-26.
Best for the team were Emma Hill, Sommer Jones and Sadie Baker.
