COBDEN’S reserves footballers fell just 10 points short of a grand final berth.

The Bombers put on a great team performance at the Reid Oval last weekend but were defeated by Warrnambool in the preliminary final, 5.6.36 to 6.10.46.

A relatively slow opening quarter saw the Bombers restricted to just one behind, while the Blues kicked 1.4 for the term.

The second quarter saw the Bombers step up a notch, adding three goals to the board to head into the main break with a slim five-point lead.

The Blues came back in the third, bridging the gap to just two points before running home victors in the final term.

Jack Darcy, Ryleigh McVilly, Thomas Marshall, Louis Robertson, Michael Koroneos and Harrison Herschell were named in the best for the Bombers.

Goals went to Koroneos (3), Jack Darcy and Louis Robertson.

Warrnambool will now face South Warrnambool in this Saturday’s grand final.
