Fire danger reminder
COUNTRY Fire Authority (CFA) units were called to a fire in Cobden last Tuesday.

Residents have been reminded the Fire Danger Period has begun and it is illegal to light a fire for burning off purposes without a Permit to Burn.
The permits have strict conditions attached and the liability sits with the permit holder to ensure they always act safely.
During the fire danger period a written permit is also required to burn off grass, undergrowth, weeds or other vegetation.
Residents can apply for a permit at firepermits.vic.gov.au. They can also be issued by the Municipal Fire Prevention Officer or the CFA District Office.
Lighting fires in the open without a permit can bring a penalty of more than $21,800 and/or 12 months imprisonment.
More information about the Fire Danger Period is available at www.cfa.gov.au/firedangerperiod.
The Fire Danger Period came into effect across Corangamite and Moyne shires on November 20.
