First win for reserves
IT was a great day for Camperdown’s reserve footballers who recorded their first win of the season last weekend.
Round three saw the Magpies take to Leura Oval against last year’s elimination finalists Koroit on Saturday.
The home side started strong, kicking 1.5 in the opening term while containing the visitors to just four behinds.
By half-time the Magpies had taken a handy 37-point lead and despite a third quarter surge by the Saints, which saw them pile on six goals, the Magpies held on for a 23-point victory, 14.12.96 to 11.7.73.
Best for Camperdown were Paddy Baker, Eddie Lucas, Jake Clissold, Luke Ball, Isaac McVilly and William Kosch.
Paddy Baker had a great day out, kicking five majors, while Luke Ball added three to the scoreboard and Geordie Adam, Tim Fitzgerald and Ashley Royal each contributed two.
In the seniors, the home side wasn’t unable to continue the winning momentum, going down to the Saints by 51-points, 8.11.59 to 16.14.110.
Best for the Magpies were William Rowbottom, Riley Arnold, Jake Dowell and Joshua Place.
Sam Gordon kicked two goals for the side while Jake Dowell, Toby Kent, James O’Neil, Hamish Sinnott, Myles Sinnott and Cameron Spence contributed one apiece.
On the netball courts, the Magpies had a tough round facing an in-form Saints across all grades – with a win in the 13 and under reserves match the only one for the day.
