Fowler stars in league award

TERANG Mortlake young gun Holly Fowler has polled exceptionally well in the Hampden League’s division three best and fairest count.

Fowler finished the home and away season on 26 votes to be named runner-up in the Symone Moloney Award, just two votes behind eventual winner Juanita Russell from South Warrnambool.

The award was announced during Hampden League’s annual vote count and presentation day, which was livestreamed to clubs last Sunday.

Fellow team-mate Jacque Dickson finished fourth in division three, earning 23 votes for the season, while Debbie Worland was 12th on 13 votes.

Also earning votes in the division three count were Bloods Amy Conheady (nine votes); Meagan Carlin, Tess McKenzie and Zoe Ritchie (two votes each); and Niamh Scanlon and Sophie Conheady (one each).

Other Bloods to feature in last Sunday’s vote count were:

Division two – Maddison Chesshire (15), Linda Clifford (11), Bailee Overweter (9), Lily Lourey (7), Linda Chessum (6), Sarah Davis (5) Jes Church (3), Caitlin Overweter (2), Elizabeth Justin (2), Jessica Baxter, Niamh Scanlon and Zoe Barker (one each).

Division one – Rhi Davis (fourth on 22 votes), Mahni Wright (17), Ellen Rose Lee (5), Claudia Lee and Emma Lucas (both on four), Jessica Davis (2), Sarah Davis (2), Jess Baxter (1).

Open – Sharni Moloney (seventh on 16 votes), Eboni Knights (10), Jacqui ARundell (7), Alice Kain (4), Emma Lucas and Grace Wareham (3), Ava Grundy, Sarah Davis and Hollie Castledine (2).

Fowler will be hoping to add to her medal collection this weekend when she lines up with her Bloods team-mates in Saturday’s grand final match against Hamilton.

The division three game is scheduled to start at 9am.

Terang Mortlake will also contest the 17 and under premiership. They will face Koroit at 10am.
