GET your motors running and primed for an outing to the Cobden Pioneer Park this weekend.

Families looking for a fun day out will have plenty to choose from at Cobden Pioneer Park’s Sunday Funday.

Cobden Pioneer Park volunteers have been hard at work preparing for this weekend’s family friendly event.

Event spokesperson Misty Angus said the group of volunteers are looking forward to the family friendly day.

She hopes the day will also be a drawcard to getting visitors to Cobden to see what is on offer with the mini golf, mini trains, restoration rally park and the Cobden and District Historical Society all open on the day.

“We want to get people into Cobden,” she said.

“The aim is to keep the day quite low cost and at the same time raise some funds to keep the Cobden Pioneer Park running.

“The entire place is run by six volunteers. We also want to highlight how many things are available in Cobden.”

Sunday Funday will be held between 9am and 2pm, to kick off the fun, locals and visitors alike are invited to take a creative photo of themselves with the Big Butter located at the entrance of the Cobden Pioneer Park.

“On our Instagram page there’s been a heap of people posing with the Big Butter…and we thought we want to see them all so we’re hosting a competition,” Ms Angus said.

“We want to see the most creative photos sent through.

“I’m hoping to get the Big Butter put on the official ‘Big Things Map’.”

To enter the competition, email your submissions to cobdenpioneerpark@gmail.com by November 16 (tomorrow) with the winner announced on Sunday Funday.

Attendees at the Sunday Funday will be able to try their luck at the gumboot toss with the winners taking home a pair of Daviesway gumboots for themselves.

Bargain hunters will be in for a treat with a carboot sale and market being held on the day.

“We’ve got a car, bike and truck motor show happening – if it’s got an engine and it goes, you can bring it along,” Ms Angus said.

“The traditional pet parade will also make an appearance with a variety of categories to enter under.

“The build-a-bucket showbags are definitely worth it. There’s been lots of exciting things donated from local businesses.”

Dig It Detecting from Colac will also be at the day giving demonstrations.

A barbecue and a number of food vans will be on site for the day, with attendees reminded the Cobden Pioneer Park is cash only.

The final event of the day will be an Ecumenical service held at the chapel at the Restoration Rally Park at 2.30pm.
