Funding for local youth
TWO organisations will receive funding for youth events in the district.
Labor Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney announced Simpson and District Community Centre and Corangamite Shire Council will each receive a grant of $2000 to host events and activities led by and for young people as part of Youth Fest 2024, to be held in September this year.
Simpson and District Community Centre will receive funding for their Level Up Gaming Day, an inclusive youth-focused event in partnership with Level-Up Gaming Events. The event will feature multiple gaming stations, including single player, multiplayer, and observer options, with the latest generation consoles, Virtual Reality headsets, large projector screens, TVs, and retro gaming technology.
Corangamite Shire’s Youth Showcase will provide an inclusive and accessible event for youth across the shire to come together and showcase their talents, interests, and passions to other youth and the wider community, promoting social connection.
Ms Tierney congratulated the successful recipients.
“Youth Fest 2024 is a fantastic opportunity for young people to organise and deliver events that reflect their interests and passions,” she said.
“These grants empower young leaders in our regions to create inclusive and exciting events that showcase their talents and strengthen community connections through youth-led events and activities.
“From Level Up Gaming in Simpson to Arts Exhibition in Anglesea, these grants will enable diverse activities, fostering creativity and engagement among regional youth.”
Across the state 110 recipients shared in $220,000 in grants.
