AFTER five years at the helm of Timboon and District Healthcare Service (TDHS), Gerry Sheehan has announced his decision to resign due to medical reasons.

Board chair Maryanne Puli Vogels said Mr Sheehan had informed her of his decision last week.

“On behalf of the board, our staff and the wider community, I would very much like to thank Gerry for all his hard work and dedication to TDHS during his time as chief executive officer (CEO),” she said.

“It is a testament to his leadership that TDHS now looks to the future with great positivity and confidence.

“Gerry leaves TDHS in much better shape than he found it and that’s always the mark of a successful tenure.

“We thank him for seeing us through an important period in our history.”

A new CEO will be appointed to lead TDHS in the coming months.

In the meantime, acting CEO Rebecca Van Wollingen, who has been in the role for a number of months, will ensure a smooth transition in the short-term.

“We are starting the process now to work with the Department of Health for the recruitment of the new CEO,” Ms Puli Vogels said.

“This process could take up to six months. We are continuing to implement our Strategic Plan under Rebecca’s leadership.

“On behalf of myself and the entire board, we would once again like to thank Gerry for his service to TDHS.

“We wish him a steady recovery and all the best in his future endeavours.”
