The Giants had a giant weekend, with all pennant team having wins.
Not only a huge pennant effort, but eight of the clubs players played in the Corangamite Playing Area championship Fours at City Bowls Club in Warrnambool.
The men’s side of Mark McDonald, Darren Coverdale, Fred Salmon and Stan Adeney defeated City 20/9, then played Central and defeated them 15/12.
They then played Winchelsea, that had Luke wright playing for them. Mark’s side battled hard but just couldn’t get over the line, going down 13/16.
A very good effort to be runners-up and congratulations to Luke.
The Ladies team of Maria Van Someren, Vicki Brebner, combined with Kathy Leslie from City and Leeanne Fitzgerald from Camperdown Golf played a team from Apollo Bay the week before and won 19/3.
They then played a combined side from City, Apollo Bay and Winchelsea in the grand final and won that 14/5. They now represent the Corangamite Playing Area in February.
Division 3 Camperdown 2 played Derrinallum 1 at home and the results was very pleasing, winning 2 rinks by enough to win over all.
The rink of Ron Simcox’s scored on 11 ends out of the 21 to win 32/13.
Stan Adeney’s rink also had a great win 27/12, scoring on 15 ends.
Ron Absalom’s rink had their second defeat of the season by only 7 shots. The other defeat was by 1 in round 4.13/20 was there final score.
Tom Hose’s rink lead all day until the second last end where they dropped a six to be 19 all. In the last end they just couldn’t hold Derrinallum back and they picked up 4 shots to win 19/23.
Next week Camperdown 2, who is sitting fourth on the ladder travel to Colac Lake Bowling club. They play Colac 3, who is only 2 points behind them in fifth spot. A must win game.

Division 4 combined team Lismore/Camperdown had their first win by 15 shots against Birregurra.
Paul Halloran’s team of Pam, Donna and Ton won a close game 18/17
Ted Goodacre’s team didn’t start off to good, giving Birregurra a 0/14 start after 9 ends. They clawed their way back and only went down by 3 shots, 16/19. Well done.
Lyn Brown’s team of Joan, Jimmy and Pip had a big win 25/08.
This made sure of the team’s first victory.
Next week at Camperdown they play Central 3, who is just above them on the ladder. Good bowling and let’s keep that winning feeling.

Round one of the annual grudge match between home town rivals Camperdown and Camperdown Golf Bowling club was played up at Golf.
After 13 ends the score was in favour of the giants 56 shots to 38 shots over the four rinks.
In the second half of the game the scores became closer but Giants run out winners 102 shots to 84 shots and collected maximum points winning all rinks.
Luke wright’s rink was having a tight battle they lead by four at half way, 19 all with six ends to go, down by one on the second last end.
Picked up 4 shots on the last end to win 23/20.
Matthew Brewer’s rink started off very slow and were 7/20 down at half way.
They clawed their way back by the 20th end to be 19/22 down. Scored on three of the last five ends to come home winners 27/24.
On rink 3 Ron Cameron’s team shot out of the blocks leading 15/1 on the seventh end and 20/7 at the half way mark.
They must have taken the foot of the pedal because by the 20th end they only lead by 6 shots with five ends to go. They did score on three of the five ends to hang on and win 26/23.
Mark McDonald’s team on rink 4 had a close game in the first five ends being 5 all. They scored 16 shots in the next 8 ends to lead 19/4 by half way. By the twentieth end they lead by ten shots 23/13.
They only scored on two ends in the last five but had done enough to also win their rink 26/17.
This win has kept has is close contact with the top four but that doesn’t mean you can came complacent. They play bottom of the ladder Lorne next week and that game will not be easy. A must win.

Cobden Black 35 lost to Timboon 38.
Mortlake forfeited to Cobden Red and Camperdown White had the bye.
