Goats hunt first win
TERANG’S division one side is still hunting its elusive first win for season 2022-23.
TERANG’S division one side is still hunting its elusive first win for season 2022-23.
The Goats sit winless in seventh position on the South West Cricket ladder but remain optimistic victory is just around the corner.
Senior coach Tyson Hay said his side had endured a tough first half but was looking forward to “better things to come.”
“We have certainly learnt a lot over recent weeks, particularly from last weekend’s match against the Rebels,” Hay said.
“We’ll enjoy the Christmas break and come back refreshed in the near year and hopefully notch up our first win sometime soon.”
The Goats struggled with the bat against Heytesbury Rebels last Saturday, managing just 77 runs while the Rebels hit 2/81.
Declan Bourke 20 and Tim Keane 12 were the only two to reach double figures for Terang, while Liam Geary was the best of the bowlers finishing with 2/15 off five.
“The Rebels are certainly a fine-tuned group and they’ve been right up there in the top four for the past few seasons,” Hay said.
“Their bowlers certainly made it very difficult to score runs and that’s a credit to them.”
In division three, Terang enjoyed a two run victory over Pomborneit, 124 to 122.
Tyler Smith played a key role for the Goats with a knock of 79 while George Beasley 4/33 off eight and Tyler Smith 2/14, also off eight, were the best of the bowlers.
