VOLUNTEERS have been called on to shake the tins at the 2022 Good Friday Appeal next week.

The Good Friday Appeal raises money for The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, with the history of the event spanning 91 years and raising almost $400 million for the hospital.

Good Friday Appeal area manager Rob Rowe said the

Good Friday Appeal in theTerang area will this year be co-ordinated from the Foyer of the Terang Civic Hall, starting from 9am on April 15.

“We are currently looking for volunteers to assist in collecting on the day, and anybody is welcome to join us,” he said.

“The only requirement is all adult volunteers must be fully vaccinated with an approved Australian Government vaccine, or be able to provide evidence of an official government-issued medical exemption.

“Volunteers will be doorknocking in the Terang area; we’ll allocate certain streets and they’ll head off.

“Some of our volunteers have been doing the same streets for years, but anyone is welcome to come down to the Civic Hall on the day and join us.”

The Noorat area will have an extra special set of hands helping to raise funds, with the Noorat Scouts answering the call for volunteers.

“The Noorat Scouts will also be collecting in Noorat on the Wednesday night (April 13) prior to Good Friday,” Mr Rowe said.

“They’ll cover the area on the Wednesday to help take the pressure off on the day of the Good Friday Appeal.”

Mr Rowe said he is hoping the local appeal will surpass the $10,000 mark this year.

“If residents are not home or are away, this year we’ve got ‘Sorry we missed you’ donation cards, where people can zap a QR code which will take them to an online tin shaker,” he said.
